CHARITY.

At the start of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic we took to baking our famous Aussie lamingtons to show our gratitude and support for the NHS front line heroes who were working around the clock to save lives. We wanted to do our small part and providing a break and a happy memory of home felt right.

Throughout the lockdown our amazing team (consisting of general managers, kitchen porters and our founders) came together to bake over 30,000 Aussie Lamingtons and cakes for the amazing NHS frontline workers around London (St Marys, St Thomas’s, London Free, Great Ormond Street, Cromwell and many, many more).

The response was very moving and heartwarming and inspired us to continue the lamington love beyond the #FeedNHS campaign and launch radiolamington, our online platform, delivering our pillowy soft lamingtons across London and allowing us to continue to show our appreciation for frontline workers through this simple gesture.

To start, providing the hospitals with the lamingtons had been entirely volunteer based with Daisy Green covering the cost of the ingredients and Deliveroo the transport.

Now, we run ‘#Alamingtonforalamington’ - for every box of lamingtons purchased we make and deliver one with love to the NHS frontliners on a weekly basis. Today, we can proudly say that we have delivered over 50 000 lamingtons (and counting) to our wonderful NHS over the duration of the pandemic.

The House of St Barnabas is a fantastic charity that tackles the cycle of homelessness and social exclusion in London, an issue very close to our hearts.

Back in October 2019 we decided to create a Little Colouring Book of Art that featured work from all the artists we have collaborated with and have hanging in venues. Having been lucky enough to work with some of the best in the business we thought it would be fun if our customers could enjoy their pieces as much as we do. All profits from each colouring book sold (available in store only) are donated to The House of St Barnabas.

scarlett green event raises £15k to help SUzIE ARiES’s battle agaist ovarian cancer.

We'd like to introduce you to our dear friend @suzieclair11. Suzie, a 27-year old actress, singer, hockey player and fitness fanatic was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of Ovarian Cancer in 2017. Together with her team at @royalmarsden, they threw everything at this cancer including 3 rounds of surgery, 6 cycles of chemo, drug trials and five weeks of daily radiotherapy, which sadly resulted in the loss of her fertility. Her last and only option was a new treatment being used to tackle the tumour - an immunotherapy drug. Because of the rarity of Suzie’s tumour, it wasn’t classified as a standard treatment and therefore, through a technicality, wasn’t available on the NHS for ovarian cancer. The drug is available privately at a cost of £250,000. In order to help pay for this treatment, we threw a charity evening on November 11th, 2019. Proceeds went towards Suzie’s treatment and excess funds went to Ovarian Cancer Action and their research into early detection. We covered the cost of the 3-course meal, drinks and service to ensure that the FULL ticket price (£35-55) was given to Suzie's fund. Performances and raffles were held throughout the night with incredible prizes such as bottomless brunch vouchers, artwork from @shubyart and @g.r.a.z.i.e., West End Session tickets, premium Aussie wines and much more!

In total the event raised a whopping £15,000.00!

We were absolutely over the moon with this however, Suzie still needed help to reach her £250,000.000 target. We are so grateful to all who donated to Suzie’s gofundme page that helped raise the remainder of the funds necessary, as well as all those that contributed in any other way.

Suzie got the treatment she needed and has recently celebrated her 30th birthday! She lives a healthy, fit lifestyle and is truly an inspiration to us all.

over £20K rasied for AUSTRALIAN BUSH FIRES.

#AustraliasBurning  It was a heartbreaking start to 2020 back home, with record bushfires burning across New South Wales, Victoria (our home state) and the wine regions of South Australia and Queensland. Hitting the most populated areas of the country, dozens were confirmed dead or missing, thousands of homes and businesses were destroyed and over 500 million animals and their habitats were wiped out since September 2019.

We were committed to helping the victims of the tragic Australian bush fires in every way we could throughout January and February. We implemented the following initiatives to help raise money to be donated to the country fire associations of New South Wales (@nswrfs), Victoria (@cfavic), Queensland (@qldfire) and Southern Australia as well as the Red Cross (@redcrossau) and Adelaide Hills Wine Region Fire Appeal (@adelaidehillswine):

  • When customers ordered our quintessential Aussie Chicken Parmigiana at any of our restaurants we'd donate £2 and we donated £1 from all those that ordered our roasted aubergine dish.

  • 50p was donated from every Aussie Lamington bought and if customers ordered a glass or bottle of Australian wine we donated £1/glass, £5/bottle.

  • 100% of the profits from Australia Day Relief and Celebration Dinner were also donated. The sell out relief dinner showcased some of Australia's best wines (including Penfold’s Grange Heritage and wines from the affected vineyards and regions) alongside an 8 course tasting menu inspired by Australian culture and bush herbs.

in total we managed to raise over £20k to help fight the bush fires.

Sadly, the bush fires rip through the country every summer. For those that would like to donate we recommend the following charities:
